Ibanez DE-7 Delay | Pedal Demo + Giveaway
Quick Update: The winner of this giveaway has been chosen. Congratulations to Tommy Christian. Thanks everyone who got involved and left a comment below. You guys ROCK!
Woo hoo! this is an exciting weekend for me..
I’ve been wanting to start doing gear demos where I give away the pedal at the end of the demo, and now it’s finally happening. My first ever pedal demo + giveaway combo!
This time round you can win yourself an Ibanez DE-7 Delay Pedal. This is one of my personal favorites and I’ve been using it on my pedal board for quite a few years now.
Demo Video
In the video below, I’m just going through some of the settings as well as showing how this pedal works with the other pedals on my pedal board.
About The Pedal
The Ibanez DE7 Delay/Echo Pedal from the Tone-Lok Series delivers both high-tech or vintage tape echo sounds at the throw of a switch. Capable of 30 ms to 2.6 seconds of delay time. Time, repeat, level, and a Range Switch allow for quick, precise control of your Ibanez DE7.
On the outside, Tone-Lok effects are equipped with the Ibanez exclusive “set and forget” Push-Lok rotary pots. Push the knobs down and your tone settings lock securely inside the case—no more lost settings or broken knobs.
On the inside, Tone-Lok pedals feature hi-fidelity components carefully tweaked with the constant input from a new generation of Ibanez players. And all this great stuff comes encased in cool looking, road-tough metal boxes at prices the working player can afford

Cool demo mang! i’d love one of these
09.09.11
Thanks George! Looks like you’ve got 100% chance of winning this so far
13.09.11
Hope im not to late!
Loved the demo. After that i think i know which delay i want, win or lose
13.09.11
No worries Dustin, you where not too late and I included your comment in the final draw
09.09.11
awesome demo it makes me want to buy one,i never used a guitar pedal before :/
i hope i get this and use it for the first time
i love the repeat control
09.09.11
Really like the sound you get around 5:35 until the end. Beautiful
09.09.11
Love delay pedals. I watch these demos all the time, from places like Guitar World and The Tone King on YouTube.
All I have in terms of a delay pedal is a slightly busted/beat up Arion DDM-1, so it’s not the greatest, haha.
I’ve never actually run 2 pedals at the same time, but I do mess around with my delay pedal + onboard delay on several modellers. Doesn’t sound terrible, and can get some pretty awesome sounds.
Would totally love to win this pedal.
09.09.11
Great demo… i´m really thinking ´bout buying one… thx
09.09.11
That’s pretty organic sounding, and pretty Pro Demo.
Do you find gear demos like this helpful?
Yes, its the difference between a purchase and a pass
Any interesting facts you know about this pedal?
It sounds pretty tasty!
Have you ever used 2 delay pedals at the same time?
I have never owned a delay, let alone used two!!!
Have you heard of this pedal before?
Yes it has been recommended to me numerous times!
09.09.11
Gear demos are insanely helpful… Actually, they’re almost the only reason I go on Youtube at all. Unfortunately, I know nothing interesting about the pedal, haha. I’ve never use more than one at a time either, but I may have to try that, based on this video. Your sound is absolutely sweet. I have heard of this pedal, and I’ve meant to get one for a long time now, but something else always comes up before it, haha. Maybe now I’ll have a chance to get one though?
09.09.11
Great video man. I’m definitely looking forward to more videos from you and checking out this pedal.
09.09.11
Hey Danny.
I’ve been researching Delay Pedals for awhile, and this one has come up a lot during my searches. I’m big into Jeff Beck and he always seems to be using a bit of delay (at least on his later stuff). I really like everything about this pedal, from its standard functions to the novelty of it being able to “feed back” upon itself, as you said. I think that could come up with some really interesting sounds– almost like a DJ slowing down vinyl or something, to my ears.
I’ve never owned a delay pedal before, let alone used two. I think my favorite tid bit about the pedal itself is that it’s made of metal, which you don’t necessarily see much anymore of in the way of stomp boxes. Must be durable.
Anyway, I’d love to have this pedal. Thanks!
09.09.11
Wow.. The last part of the demo was AMAZING!
What’s your set up?
13.09.11
Thanks mate!
My setup is: Boss TU3 > MXR Comp > Micro POG > Blue Boy > Sparkle Drive > MXR Micro Amp > Boss FV500H > Eventide Timefactor > De7 Delay > Vox AC15
I’ll do a vid soon and show the pedal board I’m using..
What setup are you using? I love hearing what other guitarists are using. Feel free to send in some pics if you like and I’ll share it with everyone on a NGD blog post
09.09.11
Nice demo, better than the GW stuff where they rarely show the settings on a pedal they are demo’ing. I like a demo, if it actually shows how the pedal works. Never particularly heard of the Ibanez delay, but it looks quite a bit easier to use than the Boss DD-7. Looks a lot like my TS-7 ;>)
09.09.11
that’s a pretty cool pedal, delays a great effect, though i think using two at a time’s a bit much
13.09.11
I agree.. you have to be careful when using two delay pedals.. less is more..
however, I mainly use it when doing ‘volume swells’ and it seems to work like a charm for me
09.09.11
I run a few delays on my board, all for different purposes but this has a much more natural tone to it than my current Boss-dominated configuration. I really love the oscillation it was putting out with the feedback tweaking. I would have endless fun just playing with that.
13.09.11
Yes endless fun can be had with the osciallation mode
Here’s a clip that actually inspired me to check this pedal out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQxleg-5UCs
The guitarist is using 2 of these DE-7 pedals for his delay.. sounds soo good!
09.09.11
Hey man, loving the interview, really informative
May look into getting one myself haha
09.09.11
Hey mate, that thing actually looks delicious, I didn’t know Ibanez had delay pedals to be honest. I Love how much of a professional work is done on the camera!!! Cheers
09.09.11
Cool video. It’s always good to see the settings used to achieve the sounds you’re hearing in the video. I love the ‘set and forget’ pot feature … Very cool. I can’t say I’ve run two delay pedals before. I don’t own ‘one’ delay pedal. I may change that though after watching this video. My basic pedal board now seems too inferior
09.09.11
I really need this to be my first pedal! Seems like so much fun!
I love the end of that demo!
09.09.11
Nice!!!!!!
09.09.11
Nice demo, thanks very much. I have never really seen the need for a delay until you showed how you use it with your other pedals, especially the overdrive – you get a really nice sound out of that. Really nice choice on the amp for for the hollow body you were using too, great combo. Hope to see more of these.
Peace,
Pierre
13.09.11
Thanks Pierre.. Can’t wait to do some more demo/giveaway combos
09.09.11
I like gear demos.
I don’t use delay very much but sometimes delays sound cool.
09.09.11
Great! Loved what you chose to play during the demo and how much we got to hear. Because of the photography/lighting, however, it was difficult to see the switch positions you had selected. I’d have preferred more narration before the music sequences describing what adjustments you were making to the pedal — remember, some of us have never seen this pedal before, so orienting the first-timer to the physical attributes would be very helpful. Please don’t be afraid to speak at critical points throughout the piece. Very nice job, though — I am going to check out that exact pedal this weekend because of your demonstration. Keep them up!
13.09.11
Yep, I’m hearing ya..
Thanks for the helpful feedback
09.09.11
Big fan of doubling down on delay. I run a 616 lofi into an old roland dc-30. Super dark lush repeats. keep up the demos!
09.09.11
I would love to win this pedal and give it a spin.
09.09.11
One Hell of a Pedal For Sure !!!!!!!!!!!
09.09.11
Great demo! I am seriously lacking a delay pedal in my board, and have been looking at a lot of different demos – some of them for very expensive pedals I know I won’t be able to afford, so this is a great demo for an affordable box!
09.09.11
very cool. i’d love one of these. i have an old ibanez ue-300 multi effects pedal with analog delay that getting ready to have to pass the torch to a new delay pedal. why not a DE7?
09.09.11
hey nice demo! I just love delay pedals…
09.09.11
For the price, I’m impressed with the features. Heard quite a few raves about this little gem.
09.09.11
Love the demo’s, I love to hear the sound of the pedals before I buy them, Delay pedals are great for doing U2 songs
09.09.11
Awesome demo of the pedal, you nailed it. Pretty helpful as it has exposed me to a pedal I probably would not have looked into otherwise. The 2.6 seconds delay time would be awesome alongside a analog delay to get some crazy dual delay going on! I think this thing could sound beatutiful next to a slow gear or similar to get some atmospheric volume swelling and ambient noise. I think this kind of delay and delay time is way more suited to that, especially if you factor in the warmth of using a analog delay alongside it. I’d also be interested in tring it within a feedback loop, that could get pretty crazy…
Thanks for taking the time to demo
09.09.11
Wow that is a very nice sound I would absolutely love one of those please!!
09.09.11
Thanks for the demo…I’ve been considering picking one of these up for the echo sounds!
09.09.11
Do you find gear demos like this helpful? Yes very helpful!
Any interesting facts you know about this pedal? Uhmm i have tried this pedal but i just cant afford it due to its price..
Have you ever used 2 delay pedals at the same time? Nope never owned any pedal yet..
Have you heard of this pedal before? LIKE YEAH! so far this is the best delay pedal i have ever tried.. I really want this pedal so much.. having this as my first guitar pedal would be sick!
uhhm im from the philippines but i have a cousin living in the united states.. just incase i win can u please send it to him??
ill email his home address and name.. Thanks and godbless..
09.09.11
I used an Ibanez UE-305 for over 20 years that I bought back in the early 80′s and totally loved it. For some reason I sold it a few months ago and regretted doing it the next day so now the thought of getting another Ibanez delay is AWESOME! You do a very good job of previewing this unit showing it’s capabilities and no, I’ve never even thought of using two delay pedals at once. It seems tricky enough controlling one two just wasn’t in the thought process. I don’t think I even consider buying gear anymore if I havn’t seen a demo on it so these demos are critical to see before buying.
I lost my day job of 32 years in March 2011 so I’m getting my gear back in shape to start playing full time again so getting this delay unit would help get my guitar sounding awesome plus saving a little $$.
Thanks for all the work you do with this website.

09.09.11
Thanks for the great demo!
09.09.11
cool Demo, & Nice guitar too!
09.09.11
I appreciate the knob-by-knob demo.
(I’m not calling you a knob.)
I probably wouldn’t know how to try this pedal out without your help ehre since I’ve never used a delay before.
Very useful.
13.09.11
haha
thanks
09.09.11
very cool sounding pedal, i saw this Via reedit!! rock on Danny
09.09.11
Great vid. I really like how you showed various ways you use the pedal. I use 2 delays all the time! Similar to how you use it. I’m currently using a Line 6 Flextone and Podxt Live, and am in the process of going back to tubes, so this pedal would come in mighty handy.
09.09.11
Gear demos like this are useful. I have not heard of this pedal before nor used two delay pedals at the same time.
09.09.11
This pedal looks crazy. And to be honest, I’ve never actually owned a delay pedal, so this would be really cool for me. I have owned a multi-effects pedal, but its just not the same.
Do you find gear demos like this helpful? I’ve bought a lot of pedals, but never a delay pedal. I always read/watch gear demos to find out what I want, just because they really do seem to tell you and show you everything about it.
Any interesting facts you know about this pedal? My friend told me that if you crank the repeat setting up while in “echo” mode, you get some great tape-style degradation
Have you ever used 2 delay pedals at the same time? I have never even thought about using 2 at the same time, and it seems like a very interesting thing to do. I guess it’s something I’ll have to try!
Have you heard of this pedal before? I have heard of it before, yes. My friend actually had one, until he sold everything including his guitar. I’ve recently looked at delay pedals, and this one caught my eye.
Overall, this delay sounds amazing from the demo and owning it would be awesome, too haha.
09.09.11
Some pretty great stuff, I have to agree with Russell a little bit though, the lighting in the shots made it hard to see what position the switches were in, but other than that, great job on the review. I’ve been wanting a delay pedal for a pretty long time, and your video sparked that more in me. Really gets some creative juices flowing. I have pretty limited funds, so I can’t really afford much equipment, I’ve got an old Strat, and my “board” is pretty barren, I have the Ibanez LF7, lo fi pedal, and a boss DS 1, so I’ve never used one, let alone two.
Just a last quick question, are you going to do any more of these pedal/equipment Demos?
13.09.11
Yes sir! I’m hoping to be doing one of these demo/giveaway combos every month or fortnight depending on the budget
If I sell enough of my books (http://www.rockyourguitar.com/the-ultimate-secrets/), then I’ll be happy to do a giveaway every week!
09.09.11
Hi, I saw this in the group of social Network for guitarists and I really like it. I am playing guitar for 1 year so I have no experience with delay pedals but it sounds good to me. My favorite group Editors use also much delay.
09.09.11
Gear demos are the most influential thing out there as far as supplying buyer information. So yes, I love this demo. The huge delay time is huge. I love me some CarbonCopy, but the 800ms max is a bummer sometimes. All I know about Ibanez pedals is that they make a hell of a tube screamer clone, so I have never heard of this pedal. And whilst I’ve never used two delays at once, I often use delay and reverb together. I’d also just heard of a guy who uses delay on harmonica to make it sound fuller and tonally rich, so that’s my plan with this one.
09.09.11
Great demo, I could use this on my board.
Do you find gear demos like this helpful? Yes I do
Any interesting facts you know about this pedal? I’ve seen this pedal before but never used it
Have you ever used 2 delay pedals at the same time? Nope, never thought about it until now
Have you heard of this pedal before? yes I have
09.09.11
Very cool pedal.I like that you can lock the knobs,so that you don’t accidenatally turn the knobs. Please keep the video reviews coming!!!
09.09.11
Nice demo. Never used this particular pedal, but would love to try it out. Never used 2 at a time either.
09.09.11
Like the demo. The pedal sounds great. I didn’t even know that Ibanez was making pedals.
09.09.11
Demos of equipment always are a great help when it comes to making a final decision on them – if you can see and hear them played in “real” situation then you can make an informed buy on that equipment!!!
09.09.11
This pedal looks awesome. It sounds like you can get a lot from it to play everything from post-rock stuff to twangy slapback tunes. I have an Ibanez ton-lok Tubescreamer and it’s definitely a solid piece of equipment. I would love one of these. Beautiful Epiphone, by the way.
09.09.11
Being a huge U2 fan, I would say that this pedal would bring me one step closer to The Edge… if you know what I mean
I so want one of those…
09.09.11
Do you find gear demos like this helpful?
- Yes, however, it might help you some if you spoke more during it, and explained what you were doing. Some people might not be in the know about what a delay pedal does technically, so it helps if you guide them through your demo process. Also you might think about playing several tunes people know to give an idea of what this pedal can do. The last suggestion is different guitars. Not everyone owns a semi-hollow. Demo it with a strat, tele, or LP too. This shows people what it might sound like for them. Overall it was a good demo, these are just improvement tips to make your demo’s better. Good stuff man.
Any interesting facts you know about this pedal?
- I didn’t know much about this pedal. I have never looked hard at Ibanez pedals, so this review is the full basis of my knowledge.
Have you ever used 2 delay pedals at the same time?
- I have not. my current “delay” is the echo side of the Visual Sound H2O pedal. I want a delay so that I can run smooth delays like what you showed in this video. The H2O just doesn’t cut it.
Have you heard of this pedal before?
- I had heard of it, but thats about as much as I knew about it. Never heard it in action before, to my knowledge.
13.09.11
Thanks for the helpful feedback.. love it!
09.09.11
Great demo of a fine delay pedal
09.09.11
Cool! I’d like to have one of those….
09.09.11
very sweet sound! I’ve played with delays before and it looks like this one has everything you need from a delay pedal!
one down side? I can see myself playing with this for hours on end
09.09.11
Hey man,
Nice demo; the pedal is pretty slick in my opinion. I’ve never played anything with a pedal before, so I’ve been looking into some quality gear to get when I have the money. I’ve been playing guitar for 2 years, self-taught, and I look into gear reviews like this every now and again. Quite a nice review, it demonstrates all the sounds without much talking (always a plus for me, I like to hear what the pedal can do) and it even provided insight into what it can do compounded with a swell pedal. It was a pleasure visiting and I’m sure my subscription here will further my abilities as a guitar player. Thanks for posting.
09.09.11
Thanks for posting the demo video–it’s really helpful to get a better sense of what the pedal is capable of and what it sounds like before making a final purchasing decision. I’m impressed that the Ibanez DE7 has such a wide range on the adjustment of its delay effects. I’d never heard of the pedal before, though, nor have I ever used 2 delay pedals at once.
09.09.11
Do you find gear demos like this helpful? Yes I do, I wish there were demos of more ‘unknown’ pedals out there though.
Any interesting facts you know about this pedal? Never tried an Ibanez delay pedal.
Have you ever used 2 delay pedals at the same time? Yes, I use a Boss DD-3 and DD-7.
Have you heard of this pedal before? Yes.
09.09.11
Go ahead and send me one, too . . .
09.09.11
great demo! i saw your post on reddit. now that i know you’re here ill be a regular. i sure hope i win your giveaway pedal. rock on brother!
09.09.11
Awesome…loved the vid! and the pedal itself!
09.09.11
I love you.
13.09.11
ok? haha
09.09.11
Gear demo’s are very useful to get an idea what a pedal is like.
I prefer to use amp overdrive, not pedals, how do you deal with that?
Delay should be after overdrive in the chain, and it’s often not possible to put a pedal in the amp’s effects loop.
09.09.11
Whoa, man, a pedal giveaway requiring only a comment? This is a comment, right?
I must be eligable!
13.09.11
you know it!
More giveaways to come as well
09.09.11
Nice demo. Desirable Pedal! =D
09.09.11
Thanks a bunch for putting up gear demo’s. They are hugely helpful when you don’t have the ability to compare sounds before you buy. I really like the way you can lock your settings in on this pedal. It had a great sound I could really use. Hope I win.
09.09.11
Hi,
AWESOME Video! SWEET sound!
I personally am just learning how to play guitar. My husband has been playing for years, and he has been recently teaching our children how to play. This would make an awesome gift for his birthday. His big 30th Birthday is on the 17th.
09.09.11
Awesome. Demo is awesome. a-w-e-s-o-m-e!!. Wish luck.
09.09.11
Cool pedal demo.. I like that you can lock down the settings on the DE-7.
09.09.11
Nice demo! Came here from reddit
09.09.11
I find gear demos extremely helpful in narrowing the field before a purchase. My favorite demo’s are usually from Andy at ProGuitarShop.com or Gearmandude on Youtube.
A bass player friend of mine uses the Ibanez Phat Hed bass overdrive. It’s in the same Tone Lok series as your delay pedal. An interesting fact! These are/were a favorite of the bass player and guitarist in MuteMath – here’s the bass player Roy Mitchell-Cardenas showing how he uses it to compliment his digital delay and create soundscapes:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7951489644441783825
I use 2 delays a fair amount – an analog first (more texture/grit), then a digital (clean repeats). I also use a Cathedral Reverb for the more “pad” sounds because we do not have a keyboard player.
And yes, I had heard of this pedal thanks to MuteMath and loving my friend’s overdriven bass sound with his Ibanez PD-7.
13.09.11
Yep.. the mutemath guitarist actually inspired me to check out this pedal years ago…
I love what he does with it.. sounds awesome!
09.09.11
sounds great would like to have one
09.09.11
seems fantastic! and I do enjoy demo videos, very helpful
09.09.11
Really like the pedal. If I win, can I have your guitar too?
13.09.11
um.. no
but maybe I should do a guitar giveaway soon.. I’ll let you know..
09.09.11
I have an Ibanez tubescreemer and I love Ibanez products
09.09.11
Nice play there at the end. It sounded like a synth with the attack of a guitar. Cool stuff.
09.09.11
Danny….Im not sure i would even want to live in a world without “Delay” you just gotta have em….sometimes more than 1….! honestly who hasnt discovered an amazing sound on a delay by accident….there are sooo many wonderful things a simple delay pedal can do, and with all the awesome videos out there! Ive never used the Ibanez delay, but i wanna play with one soo bad, i get some of the coolest space bleep/echo craziness out of those using them up high so i can adjust the knobs with my hands, i go into a lick and as i hold it, i love to tweak the rate, repeat and blend all the knobs around….some delays will give you a few great pink-floyd-esk overtones…Thats the beauty in them, and the gear demos are so helpful, so many people playing so many pedals, it doesnt make since not to watch demos…LoL. i currently only own 1 delay, a cheap lil beringer, which actually works perfect when put in line with 2 delays, “which i dont have anymore : ( ” if you use 2 it opens up a whole new world of texture and sound, Leave 1 on the floor set to your liking, then use one up high on a table or stand, and use that 1 for your “tweaker” delay, giving you a chance to create those wild Pink-floyd esk sounds i mentioned….Im loving the set and forget knobs on the Ibanez, as well as the echo functions, this would really be a awesome choice for using in a 2 delay situation, this thing just oozes perfectness, i guess i will have to have one ! Long Live the Delay Pedal…Where would we be without em’…..Thanks Danny, keep up the great work….and dont forget…..Getcha Pull !
09.09.11
I’ve never used a delay pedal, let alone 2 at the same time, but would love to check it out! I’ve also never heard of this pedal before and know nothing about it but with Ibanez’ reputation for kick ass gear I’m sure it wont disappoint. I do like the online demos, though its sometimes hard to get the full “jist” of what it really sounds like through the pc speakers…
09.09.11
sweet pedal! thanks for the comp.
09.09.11
I would sure love to have one of these guitar pedals. Delay is one of my favorite effects to use. I’ve heard great things about this one in particular. Sure hope I win!
09.09.11
Great demo!
Gear demos are incredibly helpful in determining what exactly it is that you want.
I make a lot of ambient styled music and love layering delays and spacey reverbs.
This pedal sounds great too!
I ‘d love to have one!
09.09.11
lov it
09.09.11
Great demonstration and awesome sound! What better way to practice your scales then with a delay pedal!
09.09.11
One of the best bang for the buck pedals of any type out there. This pedal has been talked about for years, especially for the echo side. It has always been on my want list for sure.
09.09.11
Looks fun. I really liked the swell stuff. Did I hear some This Will Destroy You?
13.09.11
hmm.. not that I know of
09.09.11
Damn, it’s got a nice sound. Some of the stuff you did at the beginning reminded me of one of the beautiful somber sounds of a Swedish composer I know…sick stuff, really. I love demo reviews like this, where you really get to see stuff in action, ’cause it’s not the name on the box, but what it does that matters.
I’ve never actually owned or used a guitar pedal before. When I formed a band a year ago was the first time I even learned guitar pedals existed, when our lead guitarist used a delay like this for some awesome effects, and a distortion pedal as well. As rhythm guitar, I never ended up using one, at least not yet.
But damn, that slow sound you did about four minutes thirty seconds in…heart breaking! Love it!
09.09.11
cool sound! is there an extra modulation on this pedal?
13.09.11
No, there’s no extra modulation.. this pedal just has a really nice ‘analog’ tone to it.. I love it!
By the way, checked out your website.. very cool
09.09.11
That was a great demo! As someone relatively new to electric guitar (I’ve mainly done classical before now), I find it incredibly useful for someone to show off a lot of different ways to use a pedal since I don’t have a lot of knowledge yet on pedal types, ordering them, etc. The style of delay in the last section of the video though really reminded me of some Mat Kearney stuff and some of the music my last church did, both of which I really love. Thanks again for the demo!
13.09.11
Yep, I use that sound at church all the time
09.09.11
Sweet delay!!! Doesn’t seem overly complicated like some pedals.
09.09.11
Hi Danny
I had never been aware of this pedal before today. The demo was done very well and showed some lovely sounds. My favorite ones were the ones in which you used the volume pedal swells.
It took me quite a few years to discern the difference between delay pedals, and now I have five of them, each picked for its difference from the others. I used to think that a repeat is a repeat, but of course, I was young and lacking in experience. Now, after playing sessions for some thirty-five plus years, I’ve come to appreciate the beauty of the sound of the repeats, and this pedal is a pleasant surprise for me. I too have an Vox AC 15 and the tone you got with the Ibanez DE-7 through that amp was gorgeous.
The pedal is so versatile and has a wonderful sound that would compliment anyone’s rig. I may have to just bite the bullet and purchase one of these! Oh yes, the set and forget locking knobs are such a great idea I don’t know why every pedal maker doesn’t implement them; it would seem like a no-brainer to me.
Thanks for the shot at winning this sweet piece of gear!

Well done. It was funny that as I came up with questions, you ended up answering them as you went along. It was a nice touch to demonstrate where you placed it in the chain off effects.
Thanks for a chance at the giveaway but I think I’ll end up with one, win or not. Haha, it’s a win-win either way.
Nicely done.

Really like the slow/echo sounds. Reminds me a lot of some of U2′s tones. Feel free to send me that Vox amp along with the pedal! lol J/k… Gear videos are great. Allows one to hear what the pedal truly does before considering a purchase.
Rock on…
Randy

That would be a great future giveaway.. a Vox Ac-15..
I’ll see what I can do
09.09.11
Wow, that pedals sound? AMAZING!!! I love your sound near the end of the video you are very talented! And im not just trying to suck up, just to win this pedal. But whats great about your pedal review is that you arent annoying. I thank you for that, PLEASE keep making videos for us!
13.09.11
Thanks for the feedback.. I’m glad I wasn’t annoying
I’ll def keep making these videos..
10.09.11
Nice pedal! That would be so nice to own!
10.09.11
great way to learn about new stuff. I hate not knowing what really is good when I go to get something for my rig. I always wish I had got something else. don’t know why. but your demo explains it pretty good. seems like an awesome pedal. I have used two delays at once. Lincoln Brewster does that alot.
would love to have this pedal and do it again as all I have now is my d3elay on my Line 6 amp. thanks for the opportunity. hope I win. God bless bro, keep up the good work
10.09.11
sweet pedal man
10.09.11
I always wondered about using two pedals simultaniously, but never tried!
10.09.11
Don’t mind much about winning the pedal – just wanted to comment on your BEAUTIFUL Sheraton.
13.09.11
Thanks Andy.. It really is a great guitar that almost anyone could afford.. I love it
10.09.11
Really Nice Demo Danny! Delay pedals are such a versatile piece of gear … I think every musician should have at least one, although having multiple delays of different types (Analog, Tape, Digital) is always a bonus.
10.09.11
Wow, that swell sure is swell. Great combination of effects! These grey Ibanez pedals are very underrated. I had an SB-7 synth pedal a few years ago that you could squeek out fantastic sounds out of , from classic funk to wild UFO-helicopter-pew-pew-pew-laser sounds. I’m surprised that more pedals do not use the Ibanez style of switches to modify the large ranges allowing the knobs to still have a decent level of control.
It seems like this DE-7 has the same flexibility.
I sold all my equipment to travel, retired as a bassist. Now reborn as a fledgling guitarist in Japan (Guitar strings are so small!). The cycle of acquiring gear begins again!
10.09.11
Good job on the demo. You made this pedal sound like a real winner – hope I win it !
10.09.11
Very nice.
I currently use the built in delay that came with my Vox tonelab behind my wah for a similar kind of swell. The DE-7 sounded really crisp though, by comparison.
10.09.11
Sounds soooo sick. A competitor to the DD3 fo’ sure!
10.09.11
Have been looking at Delay pedals for quite some time, and the DE-7 looks really kick ass thanks to your demo video
10.09.11
My next purchase is going to be a delay, so it is cool to watch demos of
different models. Thanks
10.09.11
Excellent demo video! Would love to win this pedal!
10.09.11
Sounds ded gud, I aim for some of the sounds you get with the DE-7 using a Lexicon MX200 but this is far easier!
10.09.11
looks like this pedal is for using in very special moments in songs, you can create great guitar solos not necesarly fasters but with a lot of feeling, heping you to play special tunes.
I saw that have a greate delay and chorus, but im not sure how dificult or easy can be operate when yoy play in stage.
I use to play in a band and i using a multi effects pedal ; but i´m start thinking in change for a pedal board; the DE7 looks like its one of the pedals that i need to have.
13.09.11
I use this pedal live all the time.. It’s great to use live because it’s so simple.. you can quite easily just set and forget
10.09.11
Sounds very cool! I’d like to try it out. I love those old tape echo sounds.
11.09.11
The pedal seems to have a lot of usable echo and delay sounds, it also has great fidelity and low noise. It doesn’t seem to alter the basic guitar tone either which is good. It would be a great addition to anyones pedalboard. I could really use a quality delay pedal like this in my set up.
11.09.11
I have had several delay and echo pedals over the years. I currently use a LIne 6 JM4 pedal for looping but the effects on it are pretty sweet. I really like the range of the Ibanez pedal, and I have been looking for separate delay and distortion units as I want to run my JM4 at times alone through my front end with what I have recorded on it to provide a separate mix from my live guitar. Thoroughly am enjoying the book and love the service that you provide for us axe murderers.
Thanks
11.09.11
What a great delay! I was glad to see how much you could do with it, and honestly I probably would have assumed it was “just another” delay pedal if I hadn’t watch your review. I’ve got a few Ibanez pedals from when I first started playing 25 years ago – and they still work! The quality has always been there for me with Ibanez pedals. Thank you for turning me onto another great one.
Side note – I did NOT pick that avitar! Funny one though.

I’m what they call a pedal geek. (I have waaay to many pedals, especially delays) I spend a lot more time on buying/trading/selling pedals then I should. I’ve never been a technically gifted guitar player and my pedal obsession doesn’t help either! However, it inspires me and keeps me creative. Cool blog you’ve got going! I’ll be following it. Nice gear demo and cool that you chose the DE-7 which I think is the best bang for the buck pedal out there! Keep up the good work!
12.09.11
Thanks for the demo.
Nice, very nice delay pedal.
thank you,
Eric
12.09.11
Appreciate the demo Danny.
Yes, i find reviews like this very valuable. I will not make a purchase without reading/listening to reviews. I also prefer one-stop shop – if you continue these type of reviews, you’ll fulfill this need for many guitarists.
Sorry, i don’t know any facts about this pedal, other than it sounds amazing. I have heard of the ibanez analog delay, a friend of mine uses it and loves it.
Interestingly, i have used two delay pedals using amplitube on my ipad using the irig..this would be good demo material as well. I can’t get the sound you were getting in the demo though.
I’d like to know what pedal you are using with your foot – is that a wah or volume pedal? Sounds very much like the Edge. Nice job.
Thanks,
Dan
13.09.11
Thanks Dan,
The pedal I was using with my right foot was just a volume pedal. It’s a Boss FV-500.
12.09.11
I mainly play rock, and this pedal looks like it would work well. I’ve been playing for around 8 years, I’ve tried other pedals but this one looks good. I’d probably go for an MXR Carbon Copy or a Boss DD of some sort, but if you’re on a budget, then this pedal looks like the best way forward. The only thing that this pedal lacks is a truly analogue sound – if it had it, then it’d be unbeatable.
12.09.11
The DE7 is great, the analog-voiced echo mode is one of the best around – the decay of the repeats when it goes into self-oscillation is just beautiful. The more digital-sounding setting is pretty lackluster IMHO.
I know there are plenty of pros who keep this one in their aresenal.
12.09.11
Just wanted to say I love delay pedals. I have to Giga-Delay and have ran dual delay pedals. It is a skill that requires a good ear. I love like at the beginning of the video, volume swells are amazing. I have a dealy running into my giga on tape with the 2 head feature. It allows my delay to decay.
I love the idea of using this as an echo after my delay, as it add a different deminsion.
Here to hoping i win it to try it out.
12.09.11
Hi Danny -
Enjoyed the demo very much. My thoughts:
Do you find gear demos like this helpful?
Yeah, definitely – and I’m really considering buying a delay pedal right now, so this one’s very timely. And for what it’s worth, I’m especially likely to watch demo videos if I have a chance to win the pedal afterward.
Any interesting facts you know about this pedal?
No, I haven’t encountered this one before but liked the effect very much.
Have you ever used 2 delay pedals at the same time?
No, I’m a newbie when it comes to delays except for those that came on my Line6 POD, which I don’t really use in a performance setting.
Have you heard of this pedal before?
Nope.
Jeff
12.09.11
Yee Haw Danny,
What a pedal, could I have one.I don’t have one like this,I use the Boss Digital Delay DD-2.It is getting
old I guess, does not work properly like it used to.I need some new inspiration to fire my imagination!
Thanks for the offer,I hope I have a chance to get your pedal…….
Yours in music,
Geoff

awesome vid. did i miss the giveaway tho?
13.09.11
Just in time.. I included you in the final draw
13.09.11
I have a Ibanez tubescreamer and it is fantastic, I hook it up to my Carvin sx200 (2×12 amp) and it improves the sound into a rich deep tone. Ibanez products are compact and they’re user friendly.
13.09.11
wazzup Danny, who is the winner…..
13.09.11
I’ve contacted the winner.. just waiting to hear back from them and then I’ll announce it here..
13.09.11
this delay will help me to build the atmospheric ambiance that will calm all the teenage children with mental issues, it will then decay into an oblivion of feedback becoming a hiss ringing in everyones ears, mind, and soul as they have been healed. thank you for your video. ive always wanted one of these pedals. have a wonderful day! bye bye
13.09.11
Danny did i get ur mail right…? did i just win…?
13.09.11
Hey Seth, no you didn’t win this time round.. The winner was Tommy Christian
14.09.11

14.09.11
Thanks much. I’ll add that to the wish list as well.
Cheers,
Dan
18.10.11
cool pedal ive been looking for a delay for a while. thank you for being the only person on youtube doing pedal demos who doesnt play cheesy blues riffs!
18.10.11
Thanks Jasper.. I’m glad you liked it
18.06.12
I’ve had one of these pedals, but had to sell it. And it was the limited pink edition.
I’m saving up for one again. Too bad I’m from outside US.
This pedal set to analog can really help you get some mellow sounds out of your leads and cleans. One of the best sounding and simplest delays I’ve played.
22.07.12
is there any other chance to win it???
