John Mayer At BerkleeLast Friday (12/3/2011), John Mayer spent an afternoon at Berklee teaching. I was lucky enough to get a recording from one of the students, which you can listen to here.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

The recording goes for about 2 hours, so I have created a 5 minute sample track which you can quickly listen to now and then later grab the full length version (2:33 hrs) to add to your iPod for some quality time with John Mayer :)

In the clinic John shares his advice on songwriting. He also shared his thoughts on why today’s generation is so distracted by social media. There was a minor uproar from his millions of followers last year, when he cancelled his twitter account.

He also shares some new songs that are due for release on his next album.

After the teaching session, he asked some of the students to play their songs as he read over the lyrics and then gave his advice. The clinic was supposed to finish at 4:30pm but he wanted to hear everyone’s songs..so he didn’t finish until 7:20pm!

You can download the 5 minute highlight track here. You can also download the full length recording (2:33 hrs) here or here (the first link dosen’t seem work for some).

Enjoy!
